One of the greatest bands of all time will finally be available on all the major music streaming services starting at midnight Thursday.
The Beatles’ catalogue, which includes 13 remastered studio albums and four “essential collections,” will be available on 9 different streaming services starting Thursday morning: Apple Music, Spotify, Google Play, Amazon Prime Music, Tidal, Microsoft Groove, Napster, Deezer, and Slacker Radio are all getting the massive collection of 224 songs.
The Beatles have been slow to adopt new music platforms: The band first released their catalogue on the iTunes store just before Christmas 2010 — almost exactly five years ago to the day — but they had waited seven years after the iTunes Store launched to do it.
Now that streaming music services are all the rage, The Beatles will test their popularity against some of today’s biggest artists, like Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift. Meanwhile, there are still plenty of popular artists, like Adele and Radiohead's Thom Yorke, that resist streaming services, questioning the value they bring to artists.
The Beatles' music goes live on those 9 streaming platforms starting December 24.
